I’m male, and in my early 50s. I spent most of my life (up until a few years ago) in Illinois and Michigan, so my English is much more midwestern than southern.

To preserve my anonymity and avoid being pigeonholed, I prefer not to specify in what field I earned my doctorate.  But it’s not linguistics, English, or anything of that sort; I have no professional credentials in etymology.
