Some news that may be of interest: I’ve been accepted into a Ph.D. program at the University of Toronto to study medieval English literature. I’ll be focusing on Old English, or possibly the early Middle English period (before 1300). So come this summer, I’ll be making the trek northeastward across the continent.

It’s a great program and faculty, and the university is home to the Old English Corpus and the Old English Dictionary, so the resources that will be available for me there are top notch. Toronto is a great city to live in, too. I’m really looking forward to it—except for the cold, that is.

Congratulations, this sounds like a great opportunity!  And I’m sure you’ll get used to the cold.

Good luck Dave. Pack a sweater. I often wish I could bring up (or have brought up) the motivation to take up such an endeavour.  Respect.
