If there is a string of spam messages, as sometimes happens shortly after midnight, you don’t need to report each and every one of them to me. Just send notice of one. That will prompt me to look at the forums and flush the spam. Between multiple spammers and multiple reporters, sometimes my email box is filled with 20-30 messages reporting spam. It’s not a big deal. It’s easy to delete the duplicate reports, but you don’t have to go to the trouble. Just one will do.

There’s an interesting site called StopForumSpam which collects data on spammers registering with forums. They have over a million spammers on the database, along with their ips, usernames and email addresses.  The huge list on the front page is simply activity in the last 12 hours. Click on an ip address and it brings up the country of origin and all the spam coming from that source.

Thanks, Aldi. I’m adding the recent lists of prolific spammers from that site to my blacklist. Let’s see if that helps.

Alas, it doesn’t seem to be working. Spammers are signing up at about the same rate as before. (Remember, that only about one tenth of one percent of spammers actually post messages to the forum.)
