heaves sigh of relief so i’m not alone.........

I’m not even sure I know what “notifications” are. A few weeks ago I received (in my public mail program) an email signed by Dave, that there a private message for me at wordorigins.org. If that’s what is meant by a notification, I’ve received more than one this past year. If not, will someone enlighten me?

That is one type of notification.
The other is when you are following a thread in the Discussions forum, and have made a post.  Someone else
comments on your posting, and then you get an email letting you know that someone has commented on your
posting.  There is usually a link that you can you to get right to it in the email.  Just click it on.

No. Why should you get all the notifications when the rest of us don’t get a single message?

I know, I am a little jealous too, but I guess we must be nice now.

Just checking to see if there is any movement here.  Cannot keep up with other discussions as I read them, and want to comment, but then find myself
8-10 comments late.  I guess I have to remember to come here immediately when ever I turn on the computer.

Just learning to check into this site with some regularity.

Still nothing on notifications I guess.

I haven’t had time to upgrade the site. And I’m not sure that the upgrade will actually fix the problem.

As I said before, that’s something I need to have a number of days clear with absolutely nothing on my plate so that I can devote 72 or so hours straight to the upgrade in case of failure. The upgrade carries significant risk of extended downtime for the site and it’s not something to be undertaken lightly. I had hoped to do it last week during the mid-semester break, but I didn’t have the time to prepare beforehand.

I don’t know when it will happen.

Ok, thanks for the update.  I will just keep checking in to discussions.
