Which side of the simile are you interested in? “A tie [in sports] is like kissing your sister” is supposed by some to have been coined by Michigan state head coach, Duffy Daugherty (or Bear Bryant others insist). And this extension of the simile reported by Washington Post sports writer Barry Svrluga:
Quotable on the whiteboard the other day was something like, “If a tie is like kissing your sister, then a loss is like kissing your grandmother with her teeth out.”
