just a test.  not intended to be helpful or informative in any way.  This is a test area.  Anyone coming here looking for information has been misled.  Look in Meta or General Discussion for that.  This is a test area; it’s a place to play around.  That’s all.

9 June 1.42pm - Oecolampadius posted a comment.
11 June 02.53 - Dr Techie posted something back at him.
11 June 04.52 - Oecolampadius changed his mind.
11 June 0.7.08 - Dr Techie then deleted his own comment.

I want to know - what’s been going on?  My guess:

Oecolampadius likes something or someone that Dr Techie doesn’t (eg wordgeek), and dared to say so.
Dr Techie got cross and shouted at him.
Oecolampadius was scared and withdrew his comment.
Dr Techie calmed down and was sorry he shouted.

Watch this space ....

As I recall, Dr. T’s comment basically said Oeco’s comment was helpful but his subject line was not.  I didn’t really understand it, and my guess is that Dr. T either misunderstood Oec’s comment (and when he realized it deleted his no-longer-relevant response) or made a joke that in retrospect he decided wasn’t that funny.

Sheesh.  To forestall any more uncomplimentary speculation:
Oecolampadius posted a message displaying a variety of special characters, using the trick steve_g recently revealed.  The subject line was “ASCII characters”, but none of those characters were part of the ASCII set.  I pointed this out, as nicely (I think) as you can point out that someone has made an error of terminology. No shouting, no sarcasm, no jokes. Oeco then eliminated the content of his original message and changed it (and the subject line) to what’s there now.  Since everything my posting referred to had been eliminated, I deleted it.

I like Eliza’s version of events better. Much more creative. Could y’all try to be more entertaining, please. Thanks. You’re now dismissed to your fifth period classes.

... Might I suggest that when editing a note some hours or even days after the first note, that the poster/editor tell us what has been edited?  This especially applies to long notes.  There might be something new, different or interesting in the note, but the time invested in finding it is sometimes not very productive.

Could we set edits apart somehow?

Just a suggestion.

edit: spelling correction of interestising.
