It’s difficult to tell from the article exactly what’s been done but there you go.

Capek’s robots in RUR responded to human speech. Asimov’s robots and androids spoke SAE with humans and had, eventually, developed telepathy-like ability to talk to each other. Clifford D Simak’s robots too had both facilities but their telepathy was electromagnetic in nature—hence ersatz. Real-life non-humaniform robots seem to have jumped from human programming to digital dialogue.
