:question:  I am trying to find out what the origin is for the word “accounting”. It is for my composition class, and you would not believe how difficult that it has been to find any information on one simple little word. HELP! I don’t know where else to look, or even who to turn to.

Anyone who can let me know where to look, I would deeply appreciate it.

Any good dictionary will give you etymology of common words like this, but in this case you may have to look up the root word, account. Dictionary.com provides access to several dictionaries.
