I knew P45 but more widely known from the cod-reggae group is UB40 who formed in 1978 and may have had little success outside the UK.

“Red Red Wine” was a number one hit here in 1988 and they had two more top ten hits in the early ‘90s, so they were certainly a success in the US.  (I liked them a lot, and I’m pretty sure I had a copy of Labour of Love at some point.)

Don’t forget Chigley.
So Here I Am was the only good UB40 song IMHO.
