Heard several times on US real crime shows:

You’re being questioned in conjunction with the murder of Bill Bloggs in Noplace, Nevada

Clearly connection would be the expected term. Howler was my first thought but if one learns anything on this board it’s that nothing can be taken for granted when it comes to the ever-shifting terrain of word usage. The amusing thing is that, solecism or no, given enough airing and use on such widely-watched programmes it will be a genuine Americanism before we know it.

OED knows this usage:

b. Phr. in conjunction with, in conjunction.

1745 in Colonial Rec. Pennsylvania (1851) V. 5 In conjunction with ye neighboring Governments.
1764 T. Reid Inq. Human Mind vi. vii, Visible figure is never presented to the eye but in conjunction with colour.
1853 J. Bright in Parl. Deb. 3rd Ser. 127 1174 The President..[has] to act in conjunction with the Court of Directors.

Doesn’t seem to be simply an Americanism. In fact the third reference seems to be one of your guys. And the second reference is a Scot!

I think aldi’s point is not that “in conjunction with” is not an established phrase, but that its established meaning doesn’t fit the context above.  The questioning is not “conjoined” to the murder in the sense of two things working together.
