An anagram, as you all know, is a word or phrase made by rearranging letters of another word or phrase.  The following are exceptionally clever.

Dormitory--------------Dirty room
Desperation------------A rope ends it
The Morse code-------Here come dots
Slot machines---------Cash lost in ‘em
Mother-in-law-------- Woman Hitler
Animosity-------------- Is no amity
A Decimal point--------I’m a dot in place
Eleven plus two--------Twelve plus one
Astronomer-------------Moon starer
Snooze alarms----------Alas! no more Z’s
Contradiction-----------Accord not in it
The earthquakes-------That queer shake
Princess Diana---------End is a car spin
Year two thousand----A year to shut down

Desperation------------A rope ends it

Some of them are a bit contrived, but that one’s witty.

LOGOPHILE’LL GO, I HOPE

Please don’t take that personally, Logophile. It’s just the way the letters fall. And anyway, you started it!

Stick around

;-)

That one is even wittier. (You’re wicked, Lionello). :)

Please forgive my obtuseness, it’s too early in the morning; but I don’t understand: “Logophile’ll go, i hope.” Is that an anagram?

I’ve read all your posts Lionello, I enjoy your eloquent writing; I don’t take it personally, it’s all in fun, I hope.

I like deviant owl better. The touch of the surreal is what does it. Low deviant is merely descriptive.

I’m feeling particularly dense after reading this entire thread. I finally figured out The Dicer and Popping It, but even online anagram solvers couldn’t provide an answer for the above. Lesser lights are looking for guidance.

Imagine a break between “logophile” and “‘ll go I hope”, and you have the name and its anagram, woven into a single sentence: Logophile-’ll go I hope.

You’ve just been elucidated, as I have. I was embarrassed to ask again.

Anyone who knows me knows I know my beer and carry around my favourite designer brew in a lightweight barrel everywhere I go.

So I laugh at pics of David Beckham in the papers with captions such as ‘David Beckham - hair by Claus’ and point to my own clippings, amongst which:

BLACKGREY - KEG BY CARL

Have we had a “What English word has the greatest number of one-word anagrams?” thread?
