Another topical one that I’ve been meaning to do for a while...

Did you leave out a word in the English translation of the novum mandatum?

Thanks Dave. I knew about the curious customs surrounding Maundy Thursday (in Britain, at least), but had never thought to look up the etymology of the word.  It appears that before the sovereign got anywhere near a poor person’s feet, these were washed several times in advance, by less exalted persons (we wouldn’t want the Royal Hands catching athlete’s foot, now, would we?). Whether the command to “love one another” was also delegated to lesser officials, is apparently not on record.

Lionello, So much for Maundy Thursday. Today’s Thirsty Maunday, so, as is your custom, off to that well-stocked cellar of yours!  ;-)
