Fox News sic has confused backs with brains.  Is this a Christmas crash blossom?

I’d always heard that medical organizations were very powerful in the U.S.; but I hadn’t realized quite how powerful, until reading that article. The impression conveyed by it is that police officers may be called in, and allowed to use physical force and even torture, to compel a sick old man to go to see a doctor, when he doesn’t want to go. 

Obviously this isn’t so; it’s just an example of how misleading a badly written news story can be.  Please tell me I’m right, colleagues.

I’m not sure what this story has to do with language.

It’s just a sad case of police being called in to respond to a mental health issue that they’re ill equipped to handle. Unfortunately such things happen all the time in the States, where mental health support services are all too often lacking.
