A vigorous concurrence from this quarter. It isn’t only the new things I’ve learnt since first coming across Dave’s board, it’s the thorough spring-cleaning of the brain I’ve undergone with the jettisoning of erroneous beliefs, some of them held since youth (yes, Fowler, ducking your head down at the back there, I’m looking at you).

Of course, it doesn’t hurt at all that the regulars here (and Dave himself) are the most interesting, intelligent and generally civilized chaps I’ve encountered in almost two decades of rambling the net (and I am most certainly using chaps non-gender-specifically here).

Allow me to go along with the two of you. One cannot participate long in wordorigins.org without one’s ideas about words and language suffering a sea-change (perhaps “a w-change” might be more apposite ;-).

As for the fellowship --- o brave new world, that has such people in it!
