It took quite the journey to finally land. Thanks, Dave, for the upgrade.

Remember when the earliest example known was a 1960s novel set in Vietnam? How far we’ve come and what a ride it’s been, thanks to the huge expansion of data on the net and its utilisation by people like Bonnie. Excellent write-up, Dave.

There, that’s gone and knocked a hole in all the fine yarns.  Thanks Dave.

That’s terrific, and I’ve posted about it here.  But as I say there:

My first post on the subject, in 2007, links to an earlier piece by Dave; unfortunately, the link now redirects to the new version, which will be confusing to anyone running across the old post and clicking through.

Is there an archived version I could link to, or is the one I discussed in 2007 gone forever?  (I’ve gotten better about quoting more from things I link to, now that I’m more aware of link rot.)

I saved a copy of the 2007 version, but it’s no longer online. I revise, rather than repeat, Big List entries, so as not to have old, sometimes incorrect information floating about the web.

I replaced it with an archive.org link, so all is well.
