I found a real language artifact. What I do not know is if it is what I think it is. I think it is the Lord’s Prayer in a foreign language. It takes me a long time to type!

Ars Padreoc
Samhain Samhil Saindeoc
Cleorín Ran tá Nadeoc
Tá Oíreàs Erin
Ta Seandeógh Asin
Muindeógh Seardeógh Leardeógh
Gaul nás Ta daiolipín
Shaió nas árs Ta saiolipín
Sailp án ars Shaiómhain
Chaioroist án ars Ghamhain

Nadeoc Taíd
Nadeoc Taídeol
Nadeoc Taídeol ásD.

Also, someone says I need to type, “Donald! Havvah likeah pissup tha Brookstream?”

I think it has something to do with donnybrook from the list.

Where did you find it?

What do you mean by “artifact” in this context?

Puts me in mind of something Celtic-ish (or something created by Tolkein). ;-)

Yes, it looks Celtic, but not many of even the individual words I tried show up on Google.
Even if it is something real, and not just a hoax perpetrated on or by furhewhowalks, I very much doubt it’s the Lord’s Prayer.  “Samhain” is a pagan holiday, the first day of the year in the old Celtic calendar (Nov 1 on ours), and doesn’t seem a likely word to find in the Lord’s Prayer.

I also wonder what furhewhowalks means by “I think it has something to do with donnybrook from the list.” What list?  “Donnybrook” doesn’t have an entry in the Big List on this site.

...I very much doubt it’s the Lord’s Prayer…

I doubt it too.  It would be missing some lines, for one thing, and the last three lines wouldn’t have a corresponding pattern in the Lord’s Prayer.

Maybe it’s Klingon ;-)

The Lord’s Prayer doesn’t rhyme.  This odd poem seems to.

Could it be something from another language, but spelt according to Irish phonetic rules, à la Myles na gCopaleen?

Cf. this passage by na gCopaleen:

Iu cean téil dat tu de Diuds. Éabharaighbodaigh thiar ios undar arést. Aigh bhil tits iu tu bi dioslógheal. Cbhuic meairts!*

Which, I am credibly informed, sounds like:

You can tell that to the Judge. Everybody here is under arrest. I will teach you to be disloyal. Quick march!

* sorry, for some reason I can get only some of the accents to come out right.

I wonder if we’re what we’re dealing with here is, if not an Irish bull by strict definition, perhaps the waste product of that animal.

Nor does it, do you think it should be there Dave?

I would suggest giving furhewhowalks another few hours to clarify his/her posting, and if clarification is not forthcoming, to admit you/we’ve been had --- again. Since the regulars on this site always act in good faith, they tend to suppose that others will do the same. This makes us easy prey for all the trolls and variegated creeps out there --- at least in the short term.

This appears to be furhewhowalks’s first post, despite being numbered “2”. Perhaps it should also be his/her/its last.

Ed. Oh, I see. He/she/it posted twice.

Just curious, how difficult would it be to produce a poem of 13 short lines, complete nonsense, which could completely baffle everyone here for 24 hours?

I’m guessing it would be no easy task.

It isn’t the quality of the nonsense that results in bafflement. It is the quality of the good people here in assuming that it is worth considering. If someone takes advantage of a person, it doesn’t demonstrate that the person is a fool; it demonstrates that the perpetrator is an ass. It doesn’t take any particular skill to fool someone. It simply takes a willingness to be an ass. I’m not saying the OP is necessarily an ass (yet), I’m just challenging your position that bafflement comes from cleverness.

If it is nonsense, it’s hardly accurate to say it baffled everyone for 24 hours.  The possibility of a hoax, which is looking more and more likely since the OP hasn’t bothered to return, was suggested within a few hours of the original posting.

The word “pointless” seems far more apt than “difficult”.
