OED Update: prima to proteose

On 14 June, the Oxford English Dictionary published their latest quarterly update, primarily covering the words from prima to proteose.

Additionally, the editors added a number of new words from outside the range. This include chill pill, flip-flopper, Islamofascist, sabermetrics, Gaia, and Syrah.

See the complete list of added words at http://dictionary.oed.com/help/updates/latest-additions.html.

Comments

I’ve written a bit about this as well, discussing some of the interesting new entries, such as “A. N. Other”, “bangarang”, and “prime time” (no, not the TV time slot).

See my punningly-titled entry “OED legitimizes Islamofascism” at: http://etymolog.blogspot.com/

Thanks! :D
